Hypnosis is actually a very normal and natural state of mind, one that even children experience, such as when daydreaming. While hypnotized you are always in control and typically aware of what is happening at all times. Most people remember everything that occurs during a session, either immediately following, or later. For this reason, once you have experienced hypnosis it becomes easier and easier to relax more deeply and to fully enjoy the session so as to receive the most benefits possible. [back to top] |

Whether you are relaxed into hypnosis, or another method is used, most people feel very relaxed and calm. After being hypnotized for the first time, people talk about feeling better, more peaceful and having enjoyed the experience. What surprises many people is that their conscious mind stays alert and "talks" to them during the session - at least until they relax more deeply. This is normal and is the result of the conscious mind staying "present" in order to protect until you feel safe. Being in the state of hypnosis is something we all experience in our normal day-to-day living. It's a lot like when you are at home, possibly watching TV, and drift off... You may be aware of the phone ringing or of someone calling your name, but you choose not to respond because it feels so good being where you are. In hypnosis, you can be aware of activity around you, but you allow yourself to let go of that awareness in order to experience more fully how good it feels to just "be." And, the more often hypnosis is experienced, the deeper most people allow themselves to go, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the experience. [back to top] |

Yes, once trust and confidence are established between the hypnotist or hypnotherapist and yourself. However, the biggest deciding factor is your desire. If your fears are greater than your desire for change, your fears keep you from receiving the most benefits possible. Because of stage hypnotists, most people think that only "gullible" people can be hypnotized. Actually, it is the reverse. The more intelligent someone is, the better subject they are for a positive hypnotic experience. That is one reason Dawn offers FREE consultations...to provide facts about hypnosis, thereby allowing an informed decision to be made about its likelihood of effectiveness for your issue. Hypnosis allows the conscious mind, which makes decisions, analyzes and judges, to take a back seat thereby opening the way for the subconscious to come forward. It is in the subconscious where feelings, memories and patterns reside, and where real, lasting and positive change can take place. People believe their consciousness is running the show, when it is actually the subconscious patterns, feelings or memories that keep causing results differently than expected or intended. They act as a guide or facilitator during your hypnotic process. As Dawn says, you drive and own the car (your body and mind), while she directs you as to which roads to take in order to reach our destination (the desired results). You are always in control and your conscious minds stays somewhat present to ensure that you do, and allow, only that with which you have comfort. [back to top] |

Most hypnosis is really "Self-Hypnosis." In other words, if you have the desire to achieve the results you seekexperience hypnosis in a way that is appropriate for you. If you wish to prove you can't be hypnotized, that is what will occur, because in a war of wills... you, the client, always win (remember, you are in control). Another fact most people don't realize, is that the more intelligence someone has, the easier they achieve hypnotic state. Once in a while a client has a strong desire, but an equally strong fear. Dawn has had good success with these clients by sending them home with a recording that allows them to practice experiencing the hypnotic state while listening to her voice. Within weeks, upon their return visit, the client's experience and results are greatly improved. [back to top] |

Most people remember all, or most, of what occurs during the session. Some, who go very deep, feel like they have slept and therefore recall less immediately upon awakening. However, when their session is discussed at the end, all important information flows back to their awareness. Either way, the subconscious remembers all and supports you in achieving your desired results. [back to top] |

Recordings, usually on a CD, made during a client's session, include the relaxation talk and music that takes you into hypnosis, as well as the end of the session when new, positive thoughts, feelings and ways of being or acting are sent to your subconscious. The middle of the session, when there may be "clearing" work, is NOT recorded as there is no benefit to the client in re-hashing old, negative stuff. You will typically listen to your recording each night as you go to sleep either for 30 days, or until your next session. (You may wish to use headphones so as not to disturb anyone who sleeps with you.) [back to top] |

"Clearing" is when hypnosis is used to clear away the cause of a negative pattern, feeling or memory. This could mean returning to the origin of an issue, or possibly just allowing your subconscious to realize how that pattern, feeling or memory no longer serves any productive purpose. Again, you, the client, are in control and give clues as to what and how the desired end result can best be achieved. Without "clearing" some clients receive temporary, or less effective, results. Some people do go very deep when hypnotized; and some even fall asleep. However, even the deepest of hypnotic experiences can be brought to an end under the guidance of a trained hypnotist/hypnotherapist. And, the best part is, even in sleep you absorb the positive benefits of the session. |
|
No. Again, you are in control at all times and only allow what you are willing to release or share to come forward. And, you only do this when you realize the end result is more desirable than holding on or holding back. People only share what they are ready to let go of, but maybe never before had the opportunity to do. What can be amazing to client is how wonderful and more free they feel when they do "let go" of, or clear, something. Rather than feeling worse about themselves, or being afraid of what Dawn thinks, they feel great and glad to be done with "that." [back to top] |

All sessions are individual, or one-on-one, and confidential. After paperwork has been completed, reviewed and discussed, you are then hypnotized, typically through relaxation, which is accompanied by music. Usually you and Dawn both wear headphones. This allows both to hear exactly what is being recorded. After the session, you receive a copy of your reinforcement recording and may be assigned some "homework". A decision is then made about the benefits of any follow-up or continuing session work, and then, if appropriate, your next appointment is scheduled. [back to top] |

Yes, it can... More and more science is discovering how important what we think and feel is to the health of our bodies. It is even becoming an accepted fact that physical healing is aided by our positive thoughts, and possibly even the positive thoughts of others (like when someone prays on another's behalf). Since hypnosis accesses the subconscious, that holds the source of our thoughts, feelings and patterns, it only makes sense that changing anything negative or incorrect at a subconscious level would also positively affect the end result. Many who experience a physical pattern (such as bedwetting) or repetitive physical discomfort (like headaches or Irritable Bowel Syndrome), have used hypnosis to change their associated thoughts and feelings and find it has allowed a positive change in the physical pattern or discomfort. Some find hypnosis so effective, they choose to use it in place of anesthesia during surgery, or during natural childbirth rather than pain blocking medicines. (In circumstances such as these, it is recommended you use a Hypnotist who has received training specifically for those uses.) [back to top] |

These sessions vary greatly because they are truly unique to each client's issues or desires, as well as whatever inner-guidance Dawn receives. Some sessions include hypnosis; others do not and are mostly conversational. You can always expect some type of "homework" with spiritual sessions. This is to ensure you, the client, begin to move in the direction that can take you where you wish to go and away from where you are. [back to top] |

Homework is often assigned to Dawn's clients because she believes in having the conscious mind supporting changes occuring in the subconscious. Having these two working together ensures quicker and more beneficial results. Homework may include reading certain books, performing certain practices, or keeping a journal designed for a specific purpose. Whatever it is, you can be sure it's designed to assist you in becoming a better you! [back to top] |

Yes. Young children, as young as 5, often receive wonderful and quick benefits from hypnosis. In fact, because they are so open and have such great imaginations, they make very good subjects. Their sessions are shorter in order to accomodate their shorter attention span, but otherwise are very similar. For children, a consultation with the parent present is suggested to ensure the child feels comfortable with the Dawn and the idea of being hypnotized. Once children reach somewhere close to age of 11, they are treated like an adult during the hypnotic experience.
